Rocking the Boat

Due to the pre-party on Thursday, I wasn't very productive on Friday. I arrived late-ish at work, and was shocked that no one even missed me, or even raised an eyebrow on my tardiness! The whole non-chalant attitude with regards to this fabulous quarter life milestone kind of hurt my feelings, but I got right on the "it's all about me"-bandwagon by telling EVERYONE that it's MY birthday. As a matter of fact, I'm still claiming the last few days of January.

Saturday morning, bright and bushy-tailed, I texted all my matey's to remind them about our departure time, and to bring something warm. I've learnt this the hard way: it gets chilly out on the open waters, and unfortunately there will be no Captain to take care of me today.

We sailed out and around Robbeneiland, and my poor friend, The Bride-to-be, battled terribly against her motion sickness. The trip took a bit long: so much so that everyone stopped drinking at one stage, partly because falling about like a drunken floppy was very disorientating, and also because it got a bit claustrophobic in the cabin when you had to top up.

It's a toss-up between who enjoyed the day the most: me, tearing apart all the gift wrap; Dog, sailing and soaking up the sun; or the Bride, when she had her feet back on dry land.

All in all, a successful trip.

The Captain also surprised me with a visit earlier this week, and to see him twice in one week is very rare. He came down to finalise some business down in CT, which means he'll be around a bit more often (yay). The Housemate also managed to sweet talk him into letting her use the yacht to take out her family tonight.

We're off to the Old Biscuit Mill on Sunday - it'll be the last party-packed and relaxing weekend in a while, as we're starting harvesting next week. Don't worry, I'll be sure to go out with a bang!
